As well as my career in video, I maintain a strong passion and involvement in the live experience. Theatre and themed attractions are a strong creative force in my life and I enjoy them as audience and a creator. I also spent 8 months working for a live events company as an AV designer & engineer, this gave me the base skills in show tech I would develop in the coming years to create my own work. Below is a sample of my involvement in these areas in recent years.
AV & Live Events
I spent 8 months touring the UK putting on conferences, parties, clubs & roadshows almost daily in a huge variety of locations. One day was a conference in the round for 2000 people at the Ricoh arena, the next was creating a temporary nightclub in the underground hall of a political party in London. This job taught me so much about show tech and the importance of working as a team, both skills that I have relied on and developed over the following years. Skills acquired:
• Lighting design & operation
• Sound engineering & operation
• Show direction & calling
• AV installation, tech & operation,
• How to safely rig and install a huge variety of gear including flying truss, projectors & speakers.
• DMX systems for lighting and special effects
• Power systems & distribution
• Timing - live work gives you a sixth sense for the timing of people, performers and fellow crew
• Work ethic - this is a hard job with long, hard hours and requires a lot of "push through it". Great fun though.
Since then I have produced the entire AV scene for Europe's largest transport conference for over 5 years. I create every piece of media to be used to advertise the conference, used at the event and post event also. On top of this I direct live multi-camera broadcasts and a large crew working across the event. I work closely with the event design team to advise on stage design and technical implementation.

Themed Attractions
Themed attractions are a major interest of mine and I consider myself both a roller coaster and theme park enthusiast. I follow the industry heavily from the point of view of a visitor but also to look underneath and see what creates the experiences. It is my goal to help shape these experiences for visitors myself and merge all my interests; video, theatre, technology, rides and most importantly stories. Having built up relationships with various industry suppliers I have worked on promotional work for roller coaster manufacturers and hope to soon be working on the creatives for different attractions including scare mazes.
Theme parks also provide an outlet for my photography interest too where I have shot for industry magazines Kirmes and Park World, had shots featured and used by Merlin Annual Pass, Screamscape and selected as finalists in photography competitions.

Theatre
For years I have produced and directed musical theatre with the aim of making every production as professional as possible. I apply both my technical skills and my creative drive to produce work that I am exceptionally proud of. My work has received various nominations for N.O.D.A awards as well as winning the award for Best Musical. My shows have always been produced in professional theatres with a mix of professional and amateur crew. My "credits" of note are:
• Chess The Musical - Director, Tech Director, Designer, Marketing & Branding

Scenery Projections
In addition to all of this, I run my own business in my spare time designing and hiring out digital scenery to theatre companies across the world. SceneryProjections.com offers high end imagery internationally to theatre companies looking to up their production value. Running this company allows me to develop my business skills as well as technical and creative.
