A confident director, I pride myself on being able to adapt to different styles, productions and methods. My experience is hands-on and in recent years focused on producing, directing and managing a team of production artists.
My passion is for visuals and how to use them in order to tell a story and make an audience feel. I have always been technically minded and love a challenge, especially when I can mix disciplines. This love of visuals and a technical mind shows through
in my productions. As a director in the commercial world, my ability to work with a multitude of clients in a way that suits their style and companies is key, I understand business and who I work for. My aim is always to produce films that are
effective for my clients.
Two films that I have written & directed have been nominated for a Royal Television Society Award for "Best Promotional Programme". I've not won one yet though . . . I'll keep trying.
In the last few years alone I have directed local crews for a major logistics company in Oman, live broadcasts of large industry events, a large number of actors, child actors and even animal actors, celebrities such as Jo Whiley, Quentin Willson and Charlie Luxton, films in leisure, advertising, education, retail, engineering and even an X-Factor parody. There's not much that will surprise me but I love it when it does.
During this time I have produced and edited films, trained numerous members of staff, managed a team, worked closely with my management pitching for and winning new work. Most importantly I've helped companies I've worked with in any way I can.
I love working in smaller companies as it allows me the freedom to get involved in many aspects of a business. I enjoy contributing to a company's success and am always looking out for new opportunities.
On top of directing, I have deliberately maintained my technical skills and knowledge, specifically in After Affects along with editing, colour grading, camera work and general technical knowledge. Making sure mine and my teams work is up to date, correct and to a high standard will always be incredibly important to me.
Outside of all of this I enjoy theatre, film and the live experience environment such as theme parks, live music and arts. My passion for theme parks and location-based entertainment is bleeding into my professional life as I work on promotional material for roller coaster manufacturers. My dream project would be combining digital media in a themed environment providing a thrilling experience for an audience. With a little luck you should be able to experience some of my work soon.
As a mark of my work ethic I also run my own business in my spare time designing and hiring digital scenery to theatre companies, as well as produce & direct musical theatre.
All this along with my beautiful family keeps me happily busy . . .
I wouldn't have it any other way.
